Getting Through the Holidays After a Breakup
Conheça o Protocolo Fênix — 21 noites para voltar a ser você →Holidays have a way of magnifying heartbreak. Everywhere you look there are couples, traditions, and reminders of the person who is no longer beside you. Getting through them takes a little planning and a lot of self-kindness.
Lean on your people
Surround yourself with friends and family who lift you up. You do not have to spend the holiday alone with your thoughts. Accept invitations, or create your own small gathering, so the day feels full of warmth rather than absence.
Make new traditions
- Start a small new ritual that is just yours, separate from anything you shared with your ex.
- Give yourself permission to skip events that would be too painful this year.
- Limit time on social media, where everyone's highlight reels can sting.
It is okay if the holiday feels bittersweet. You can hold both gratitude for the people around you and sadness for what has changed. Both can live in the same day.
Be patient with yourself if waves of emotion arrive in the middle of the celebrations. The first holidays after a breakup are often the hardest, and getting through them, even imperfectly, is a real accomplishment. Next year will feel lighter.
